Humans of City Furniture: Curt Nichols

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]Curt Nichols had been working here just 7 months when he burned down a Fort Lauderdale showroom. It was the early 90s, City Furniture was still Waterbed City, and a lamp fell onto a pillowcase and ignited a small fire. Ignoring his natural instincts to just stomp out the flames, Curt went in search of an extinguisher while escorting guests out of the store. In a matter of 20 seconds, the guests were safely outside and the entire showroom was going down. And while Curt was sure he was going to lose his job, he was instead placed at a different showroom and eventually moved into corporate management. The moral of the story? It’s like his grandma used to say, “Sometimes things happen for a reason.” Even burning down a showroom.[/dropcap]
